Energy Efficiency Roadmap
An energy efficiency roadmap translates energy assessment recommendations into project plans and budgets. By integrating energy efficiency projects into the repair and maintenance cycle, a green energy roadmap makes many projects happen with little or no capital investment.
Step by Step Roadmap Example
Here is a step-by-step example of how you can use an energy efficiency project roadmap.
This example is based on the findings of a Big Green Zero Energy Assessment™ that reported the following:
- The past 12-month total energy bill was $200,000.
- Office equipment contributed 16%, or $32,000 to that bill.
- Lighting contributed 29%, or $58,000.
- HVAC contributed 40%, or $80,000.
- Water heating contributed 9%, or $18,000.
- Other equipment and appliances contributed 6%, or $12,000.
In Step 1, these energy assessment recommendations are recorded on the first Energy Roadmap Worksheet (pictured at right).
Move on to Step 2 to see how an energy efficiency roadmap makes affordable projects happen.
